The Free Wifi Revolution

Saturday, May 13th, 2006

Andy recently made a very good point about people expectations for free wifi.

I realised quite early on what we were doing providing free wifi in brighton. people in brighton got very used to it and we started getting phone calls from them when they were out of town, “why isn’t it free? i thought it free in bars and cafes?”…

Andy’s right people have to come expect it for free.

What’s Wrong With My Mobile Phone

Saturday, April 15th, 2006

I want:

A normal headphone jack so i can use my own headphones. And one that will also handle a mic input if a handsfree is used.

Easy, standards-based, phone-to-phone syncing of data/contacts/sms/pictures/etc..

The same memory cards as everything else. SD preferably. Normal size, high speed a bonus.

The ability to use my 3G data connection with my laptop over Bluetooth.

An actual USB port, yeah alright the mini version. USB 2.0 too please!

A joystick that you can press inward to make selections without accidentily moving the cursor up or down.

Oh, and of course, Symbian (Series 60) and come with Flash Player as standard, for free.

I don’t think these are unreasonable requests.

Being 26

Friday, March 17th, 2006

In the middle of February i turned 26, the wrong side of 20. Which was almost imediately pointed out to me by my father as actually being the right side of 30! As usual i was probably being a “Glass half empty” person.

So as a result of realising that actually being 26 isn’t so bad, i’ve decided to make sure that i feel the same about being 30 when i get there.

Firstly I’ve started taking more photos, something i used to do a lot of six or seven years ago. So I bought a new camera and started using my neglected Flickr account. So far so good, I’ve got almost a hundred photos up and I’ve found a bunch of people I know also using Flickr. I’ve encouraged a bunch of people to start using Flickr too!

Things to Blog

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2006

With life being a bit hectic recently i’ve not had much time to write anything yet…. i suppose that’s a good thing in a way, it means i’ve been busy!

Some of the things i’ve been meaning to blog for a while are:

  1. My manifesto for new media in the developing world
  2. Why Google won’t become a web host
  3. My top 5 films (currently. Everyone else has blogged it, so should I :)
  4. Frisbee survival tips
